Love, it is a forever topic, never exhausted, never boring, and never failed. Especially, now, we are living in a brand new era. Anything is possible, and anything could be reasonable. There is no longer numerous restraints on our minds, what should be and what must be.
Instead of Es Muss Sein (must like this), we follow the doctrine of something else is also ok. So here comes, Something's Gotta Give, 63 years old guy could date 20 years girl, and mother could fall in love with daughter's boyfriend; middle aged man found 50's woman sexy and attractive. What a wonderful world.
However, behind all those superfitial ridiculous elements, what the director wanna say is that love is love, there is nothing right or wrong, there is no reason and logic, it is love. How can one ever try to fight against the real desire in the heart? How can one eraze the passion raised by the mere presense of some certain figure? Even it sounds incredible weird, even it sounds totally against "moral", even the hearts got broken, and tears happen, what can you do about it?
So there is the scene in the seashore, when Diana (the mother) picked black stone only in memory of Jame (the playboy); and there comes she cried, she wrote, and cried again; and there comes he stunned by his own change, confused by his own behaviour, scared by his own love - it even brought heart attack!
In all, this is a relaxed, funny movie, but also makes your eyes wet. The ending was banal, happy family. Playboy turned to be a nice family guy, and settled down ever after.
However, if you wanna a tour with laughter and relaxation, this could be a nice choice for a leasure afternoon.
