　　Z－4195只是一只小小的工蚁，像他这种工蚁就有上亿只，他想和美丽的芭拉公主交往的机会是微乎其微。不过他会因为蚁国严格的阶级制度而气馁，为了追求芭拉公主，向他最好的朋友老魏求助，老魏是一只兵蚁，他帮助Ｚ假冒士兵，Ｚ原来只是想藉这个假身分接近公主，没想到在一场对抗白蚁敌军的战役中，他能够小兵立大功，成为蚁国的英雄。
　　但这时候野心勃勃的曼将军正准备完全改造蚁国，并且让自己成为唯我独尊的独裁者，不小心立下战功的Ｚ在众人的推举下，成为一场革命的领袖，他必须率领追求自由的小蚂蚁，对抗曼将军强大的镇压，阻止他箝制自由「蚁」权的暴政。Ｚ曾经是微不足道的小工蚁，现在却可能成为蚁国晟伟大的英雄。

　　Z the worker-ant (voice of Woody Allen) strives to reconcile his own individuality with the communal work-ethic of the ant colony. Falling in love with the ant-Princess Bala (voice of Sharon Stone), Z strives to make social inroads, and then ultimately must save the ant colony from the treacherous schemings of the evil General Mandible (voice of Gene Hackman) that threaten to wipe out the entire worker population. Themes of individuality run rampant.
